Double-plated gold for Peak's Anthony.

PARALYMPIC cyclists Anthony Kappes and Sarah Bailey are helping Great Britain to a remarkable haul of medals at the Paralympic Cycling Open European Championships.

Anthony, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, who became visually impaired through a genetic condition while at university, only took up the sport seriously at the beginning of the year.

But this didn't stop him winning a brace of gold medals with his tandem pilot Barney Storey in the blind and visually impaired men's sprint on Tuesday.

The pair lost their first race in the best-of-three semi-final against a German tandem crew, but won the remaining two races to book a place in the final.
